While attending Tulare Western High School Phyllis worked as server at Happy State restaurant along with participating in the Tulare Western Color Guard and graduating in 1981 with a 3.9GPA.

During this time of her career she began a relationship with Raymond Crisp whom she married in 2006. Phyllis would go on to become a Counseling Aide Technician and coordinator of the state testing services. She retired from Tulare Union High School after 21 years. Phyllis had a passion for people, especially the youth. She served the Lord using her many talents as a church youth leader, praise team & choir member, and prayer warrior. She would volunteer for her son’s sport teams serving as team mom. Phyllis not only raised her own children, but also opened her doors to many children as she raised her nieces Jamaisa Allen and Breanna Anderson during their final years of high school.

Mother’s Day weekend of 2019, Phyllis was diagnosed with Stage 4 Liver Cancer. She fought a valiant fight against the disease until the very end.
