Vivian Jean Deans passed away peacefully on August 24, 2019 in Visalia, California at the age of 67. "Jeanie", as she was most affectionately known, was born April 13, 1952, in Porterville, California to John Henry and OnaD Duncan. Being the youngest of 8, and born on Easter Sunday, earned her the nickname "rotten egg" by her older brother and sisters.
She grew up in Terra Bella, California. She attended grade school in her hometown and then continued her education at Porterville High School and Marinello School of Beauty in Bakersfield, California, later graduating from Porterville College. In 1972, she met James Deans of Lancaster, California. After a brief courtship, the two married on February 19, 1972. In 1974, they welcomed their oldest daughter Dawnielle and in 1976, their second daughter DeOndra was born.
Jeanie enjoyed working with those who had developmental disabilities. She volunteered for Special Olympics and worked in care homes, as well as The Sheltered Workshop. She was passionate about teaching others how to care for themselves. While her talent was multifaceted, she most enjoyed making gifts for loved ones.
She is survived by her daughters, Dawnielle (William) Akers and DeOndra Deans (partner Grant Standridge); 7 grandchildren, Joshua (Sandra) Dickson, Jordan Dickson, Kamberli Dickson, Joeli (Tristin) Huff, Brandon Suggs, Jaemi O'Bannon, and James O'Bannon; 8 great grandchildren, Natalee Dickson, Ashli Huff, Oliver Dickson, Amelia Cha, Cooper Dickson, Thomas Huff, Ares Cha, and Allen Huff; 4 sisters, Mary (Pat) Mallet, Dorothy (Clifford) Willard, Betty Stamper, and Norma Collins; Many, many nieces and nephews with special mention of niece, LaVerne Clark, who was much more like a daughter and friend.
She was preceeded in death by her parents, John Henry and OnaD; husband, James; partner, Hearl Tucker; Sisters, Edith McGuire and Nadine Caples; Brother, Johnnie Duncan.
