Jack was born in Porterville, CA on November 24, 1949 and he passed away peacefully on September 20, 2017 at the age of 67 surrounded by loved ones. Jack was raised in Porterville by his mother, Edith Wingfield and attended Porterville High School. After high school, he worked for Porterville Equipment Rentals and Jim’s Auto Parts before he found his niche with Porterville Unified School District as a school bus mechanic. He moved to Grangeville, Idaho in 1992 and went to work for his beloved uncle, Bob Wingfield. During his time in Idaho, he worked in construction until he was offered a supervisor position with Porterville Unified School District in 1994. Jack also worked for Student Transportations of America before becoming the Director of Transportation at Exeter Unified School District in 2009. Jack retired from Exeter in June of 2017, leaving a job and numerous employees he loved dearly. After his reputation and strong work ethic brought him back to California, he married his wife, Vicki Emery in Incline Village, Nevada on June 25, 1994.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman and always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family. He also loved trips to the mountains to cut firewood. From the early 70’s and into the 80’s Jack, AKA "The Winger" was a force to be reckoned with on the dirt track at Rocky Hill Speedway. During those years, he had built friendships that would last a lifetime.
Jack has always been known for his generous ways and putting the needs of others ahead of his own. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing Jack was lucky enough to have felt the impact of his gentle nature and kind smile. His family and friends will miss him dearly.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Eddy Wingfield and his brother in law, Harold Hulsey. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, sons, David (Tanya), Ryan (Erin), Brett, Eric (Amanda), Bryan (Shiloh) Clower, and Michael (Ralene) Clower, and 20 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Ethel Hulsey and one brother David (Linda) Wingfield, his uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
A viewing will take place from 2:00PM to 8:00PM at the Porterville Funeral and Cremation Center on Tuesday, September 26, 2016 and the celebration of life for Jack R. Wingfield will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10:00AM at the Porterville Church of the Nazarene.
